As a diamond member of Accor, I've stayed in this hotel multiple times. In my initial stays, there were some issues with the training of the staff. Whenever I asked/requested about services, each staff member will give different responses. I believe this stems from the fact that the employees need training. All the employees are willing to help but there is a confusion about the services provided to Accor members. My last stay in this hotel was on June 7th. Hatice Hanim in the reception was very helpful. She remembered me from my previous stays and she was very helpful. In addition, Cigdem Hanim in the breakfast area was very helpful. Although Cigdem Hanim just began working at the hotel 2 weeks ago, you can see from her manners and big smile that she is a new welcome addition to this hotel. I spend 150+ nights in hotels in any given year and most of the time I choose Accor hotels for my stays. Sofitel Taksim is one of the Accor hotels that needs an upgrade for their executive lounge offerings. The food options in the lounge are very very limited and it does not feel like you are staying in a good Accor hotel. I mentioned this to the hotel management before, they somehow updated the food selection but offering only pizza and very small quantity of appetizers not a good option. They really need to review their lounge offerings and update their menu from pizza to maybe more appetizers with a good portion sizes. There is still confusion among the hotel staff for welcome drinks for Accor members and each time I stayed in this hotel, I had to reexplain the hotel staff what it means to have a welcome drink as an Accor diamond member. Rahmi Bey in the restaurant was very helpful in my previous stays but I am not sure if he is still working at the hotel. The location of the hotel is great and unmatched for tourist activities but it might get noisy at night. The other thing which bothers me is the fact they turn off all the lights at the entrance of the hotel after certain hours and when you come back to the hotel it seems that you are coming back to an empty building and it is intimidating and not welcoming. I stayed on 5th and 7th floors before the housekeeping staff is excellent and they are doing a wonderful job with the cleaning and providing support for the guests.

The hotel has very little to do with the name Sofitel. Not with Sofitel, as we know it from Singapore, Krabi, Thailand, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. The hotel is dated but clean (superb service of Mrs Elif on the sixth floor) and comfortable. Room service is a nightmare, the Oven restaurant does not excel either. The staff at the breakfast restaurant compensates for an average breakfast. Excellent spa, Deniz's massages are highly recommended.
