Historically, Camberwell was a village associated with the Church of St Giles, stretching back to 1086 when Ca'brewelle is mentioned in the Domesday Book. The area became popular with residents in the 18th century, with wealthy Londoners attracted to its fresh air and clean water. Today, the London neighbourhood is home to a University of the Arts Campus, so it's no surprise the area is famous as an artistic hub. Burgess Park is a spacious public park in Camberwell, a must stop on sunny days but ideal for a stroll at any time of year. This 56 hectare park is one of the largest in South London, home to a cricket pitch, tennis courts, fishing and a BMX track.
